Kitplanes for Africa was established in the early 1990s by a group of aviation enthusiasts with a passion for designing and building affordable, versatile, and reliable aircraft. The company's goal was to provide aviation enthusiasts with the opportunity to build their own aircraft from kits, making flying more accessible.

Design Philosophy
Kitplanes for Africa focuses on designing aircraft that are simple to build and maintain, ensuring that amateur builders can successfully complete their projects. The kits come with comprehensive manuals and support to guide builders through the assembly process. The aircraft are designed to handle the tough flying conditions often encountered in Africa, making them suitable for bush flying, farming operations, and recreational use.

Community and Support
The company has built a strong community of builders and pilots who share their experiences and provide support to one another. Kitplanes for Africa organizes fly-ins, workshops, and events to bring enthusiasts together and promote the joy of building and flying kit aircraft.

Most KFA models are available in either kit form or as ready-to-fly aircraft. Fully assembled Safari aircraft are now available directly from the factory. (Please note that export regulations differ by country, which may affect the acceptance of foreign-produced aircraft.) Kit delivery times vary depending on factory workload but currently average between 12 to 14 weeks. Production-built aircraft have lead times ranging from 4 to 7 months.

The kits are designed for ease of assembly, with the average builder completing a standard non-quickbuild kit in under 700 hours. Quick-build options are also available to significantly shorten assembly times.

KFA has the best builder support in the Industry. You become part of the KFA family when you build or own one of our aircraft and we will always be there to support you, no matter where you are in the world. No real special tools are required to build your own aircraft and the ones we recommend can be bought with the kit for less than 100 usd.

Engineered for Adventure is what we do and “Build For The Bush” is our motto. Built to be off-field aircraft and suited to the harsh African environment. With super STOL capabilities, high payloads, a decent 100kt cruise (depending on engine and prop) and good endurance, the KFA range of aircraft are of the worlds best in category aircraft when comparing safety, STOL performance, ease of maintenance, affordability and a long history behind it.

To date Kitplanes for Africa has produced in excess of 600 kits and aircraft, some of which have been exported to Germany, Australia, New Zealand, USA, Canada, UK, Iceland, Netherlands, Switzerland, Sweden, Namibia, Botswana, Kenya, Mongolia, Mozambique, Nigeria, Norway and Zimbabwe.
